Adya Yazhnasamrudhirme saphala devathaihi krutha

Adyayazhnaphalam praptham Bhagavathdarshanaanmaya

Dhanyosmyanugruhitosmi yasya me munipungava

Yazhnopasadanam Bruhman prapthosi Munibhisaha

It is indeed difficult to be born as a human. More so to be blessed with a long life.To beget a healthy body is indeed more difficult. One may get all the above but not the opportunity to meet a saint and associate himself with satsangh. It is by the compassion of the Lord that one is able to meet a saintly person. Those who understand the glory and value of such saints consider their lives to be fruitful.Parikshit was blessed with the darshan of Suka.Immedaitely Parikshit said “ The Lord has been very compassionate towards me. He loves me. It is because of this reason that Iam able to see you.Bali Chakravarthy welcomes Lord Vamana with the following words” My anscestors must be pleased by your presence here. My kula has been sanctified. Dasaratha welcomed Vishwamithra who arrived at Ayodhya “ Your arrival is like nectar to me.” Thus in many puranas the glory of the saints has been expressed. The above slokas are those words uttered by Janaka on seeing Vishwamithra.

Vishwamithra arrives the Yagashala ofJanaka along with hundreds of saints and Rama and Lakshman. Janaka’s joy knew no bounds on seeing him.If a good deed is to be fruitful it is signified by the arrival of a Godly person.Vishwamithra, a Brahmarishi and Rama, Lakshmana- Avathara purushas arrived along with hundereds of sadhus which gave immense peace to Janaka. Janaka says” I consider that my yaga is complete and my karma is fruitful by your arrival at this yagashala.Iam blessed by your presence.”

EVENTS OF THE MONTH DEC 2009

CHENNAI PROGRAM

Virugambakkam sapthaham

A few blessed Bhagavathas join on every Sunday at Harihara temple, Virugambakkam, Chennai to do the Bhagavatha parayanam. They have completed such parayanam continuously for 100 Sundays by the grace of God. Every year they organize Hari Anna’s pravachanam. This year Hari Anna’s Bhagavatha pravachanam was held at ShivaVishnu temple, Natesan Nagar from Dec 10th to 16th. The very first day in his Daksha yagna pravachanam he said “ Lord Siva says Let all people use roses, jasmine and other such fragrant flowers. Iam pleased even by nonfragrant flowers such as thumba, errukkampil. This shows his simplicity. During the course of Bharatha Charitram he described the glory of salagrama kshetra. In vruthropakyanam he said there is a competition between the Lord and the Bhaktha. The Lord wins over the Bhaktha by His compassion and the Bhaktha wins over the Lord by his devotion.. Thus both of them win. Every morning there was parayanam and almost 30 devotees did the parayanam enthusiastically competing with each other. None did the parayanam for sambhavanai sake.On Dec 13th there was unchavruthi, Divyanamam and Radhakalyanam. The audience enjoyed all the pravachanams. The temple administrators too co-operated with the organizers and helped them conduct this sapthaham in a well organized manner.

Sita Devi replied “ Nothing great of me . When Lord Rama left Ayodhya the entire Ayodhya came behind him leaving all their possessions and belongings. When the citizens themselves sacrificed everything for His sake why shouldn’t I dod so?Nothing surprising in me leaving Ayodhya.” Hari Anna delivered this discourse with great emotion.Guha sakyam, Paduka Pattabhishekam, Jatayu Moksham, Shabari moksham, Ravana prathamayudhdham, Kumbakarna yudhdham etc wre delivered by Sri Hari Anna. KSHETRA FOR THE MONTH OF FEB 2010

THIRUNAGAI

The charioteer of Indra, Maathali had a daughter by name Gunakesi. He was in search for an apt groom for her. Though he made sincere efforts he could not find a suitable person even amidst the Devas, Kinnaras, gandharvas. He then visited the city of snakes, Bhogavathi. There he met Vasuki, the king of sanakes and found his son Sumukha , a suitable match for his daughter. But vasuki with tears in his eyes said “ Iam very sorry to inform you that my son will not live long. He has consatant threat from the most powerful Garuda.”

Mathali came back to Swarga and reported the matter to Indra so that he might offer Sumukha some nectar. Indra refused. Vasukhi was very depressed more so that the Devas used him to churn the Mandara mountain to get nectar. Mathali then consulted Narada. Narada then said “ May you take refuge under the feet of the Lord Narayana. It was He who gave nectar to the Devas. He is the Saviour of the helpless, Protector of the needy. He is the bestower of all Fortune. Sumukha immediately on hearing this went into penance. The Lord Sundararaja mounted the Garuda and gave him darshan. As He glanced mercifully at Sumukha the Lord spoke to Garuda as follows: “Garuda is Veda. Through Garuda ( Veda) one can perceive Me. Pakshirajan ( Garuda) is my vehicle while Nagaraja is My bed. Sumukha , may you bow down to Garuda and thus attain long life. And “Garuda”, May you not harm Sumukha in anyway for it is the duty of one to protect those who have surrendered at their feet.” Saying so the Lord took Sumukha ( who was in the snake form) by His toes and put him around Garuda’s neck. Garuda and Sumukha thus became friends and Mathali happily married off Gunakesi to Sumukha. It was Lord Sundararaja of Nagapattinam who bestowed Sumukha with long life, health and a good wife. Those who worship Lord Sundararaja of Nagapattinam will be bestowed with all the above three.
